Launching Leith's First Ever Chill Fest
There's nothing we love more than cocktails, especially when they're only a fiver. In just a couple of weeks, when the city centre is hectic with Fringe madness, Leith Chill Fest will be transforming Leith into the coolest cocktail community you've ever seen.
Running from 2nd August - 2nd September, the month-long festival is a laid-back celebration of all things Leith. With 19 bars to choose from, each with their own signature cocktail, you can drink you way round the hood, sample some Leith-inspired cocktails, support local bars and donate money to Leith charities at the same time. What's not to love?
Here's how it works...
First, head to the Leith Chill Fest website and grab yourself a wristband. Wristbands cost £5 and are valid for the duration of the festival. Just keep it with you all month, and pop into any of the participating bars to enjoy their signature cocktail for £5. Visit as many bars as you like, as many times as you like. Settle down in your favourite watering hole, or go bar hopping and try a few different places - then come back for more next weekend!
Not only do you get to enjoy £5 cocktails all month, you'll also be supporting local charities at the same time. Proceeds from the wristband sales will be split between two fantastic charities: Projekt 42, a not-for-profit gym & wellness centre in the Newkirkgate Centre focusing on strengthening the connection between mental health and physical fitness; and Citadel Youth Centre which provides the young people of Leith with learning, leisure, friendship and support services.
Bars taking part include: Joseph Pearce, Finn & Bear, Malmaison, Miss Woo's, Sofi's, The Lord Nelson, Papillon, Roseleaf, Boda, The Lioness of Leith, Victoria, The Granary, Nobles, Tapa, Toast, The Barologist, The Black Fox by the Shore, Woodland Creatures and Hemingway's. Click here to have a look at all the cocktail concoctions on offer, decide which ones tickle your fancy, and plan your Chill Fest route around Leith.
L+F x Leith Chill Fest
Co-ordinated by Emma Loane, Sales and Marketing Manager of Malmaison, and Anna Christopherson, owner of the award-winning Boda Bar Group, Leopold + Frida were brought on board to organise PR, marketing and social media for the festival.
We were very excited to be working on a cocktail festival (obvs) that's not only on our doorstep, but also gives back to the local community. The team here at L+F soon got to work to help make Leith Chill Fest the best it could possibly be.
First up, we co-ordinated a photoshoot to capture some cocktail photos in a few of the participating bars, as well as get the perfect launch image to send out to press. We couldn't decide between an image featuring the Shore, the Banana Flats or Lamb's House, so we asked Chill Fest's Instagram followers to choose... and the Banana Flats won it! Iconic Leith location + beardy man + cocktail = yes.
Speaking of Instagram, we've also been in charge of running Chill Fest's social media. A combination of irresistible cocktail pics, connecting with local influencers and running social media competitions has helped us reach a wide audience and it's got everyone talking about Chill Fest. So much so, in fact, that a few bars got in touch with us via social media as they wanted in on the Chill Fest action!
We also created a website for Leith Chill Fest, so visitors can easily find out all the info they need, keep up to date with the latest Chill Fest news, and buy their wristbands online. In the run-up to the festival, we've been busy adding new bars and cocktails to the website, and keeping the News page updated.
And of course, we've been doing plenty of PR to help secure lots of coverage for Chill Fest. After crafting the perfect press release, we sent it out to our key press contacts along with our launch image. It wasn't long before the coverage started rolling in... we've been in The Scotsman, Scottish Field, Scotsman Food & Drink and Hidden Edinburgh, to name a few.
There's only two weeks to go until the launch of Leith Chill Fest and we can't wait. We've also been busy whipping a guestlist for the launch party, and it's set to be a very fun night... see you there!
